POS-Marketing

The point of sale is where people decide to buy. We bring play and interaction into the shop, with promo areas, brand corners and our digital Glücksrad for rent.

Gamification in a box: the digital Glücksrad

Do you want an easy way into conversation with customers and an impression that lasts, through gamification? The digital Glücksrad, a prize wheel on a screen, makes that straightforward. Four very simple steps: pick a design, get it delivered by post, plug it in and start playing.

Where it is used: trade fairs, openings, roadshows, open days, staff events, anniversaries, shopping centres and more.

Creating moments of luck

The digital Glücksrad brings together everything a good activation needs:

  • Familiar and emotional
  • No prior knowledge required
  • Happy hormones kick in
  • A positive connection to the brand
  • Onlookers get drawn in too

Door opener

The digital Glücksrad is an effective way to get into conversation with fair visitors and potential customers. Passers-by like a bit of suspense and the chance to win something. The wheel is a positive, friendly, unobtrusive door opener where everyone can win something straight away and is glad to join in.

Drawing attention

You can spot a Glücksrad activation from a long way off, because a queue or a cluster of people forms in front of it. The game itself, with the familiar spinning wheel and its coloured segments, triggers memories. Depending on the screen size, the digital Glücksrad becomes a real eyecatcher.

Personalised design

With your logo and your colours, the digital Glücksrad takes on the look and feel of the company, the shop or the campaign. A themed design, for Christmas, a summer party, Easter or an anniversary, works as an eyecatcher and sits naturally in the campaign as a whole. You send us the graphic files in advance. We help you choose the prize icons, anything from emojis to pictograms.

Handing out giveaways efficiently

Thanks to the dynamic consolation prize you can never run out of giveaways. The wheel works out by itself how often that consolation prize should come up, so that as many giveaways as possible are played out by the end of the promotion. All in all a clean way to make the preparation predictable and efficient.

Sustainable prizes with a receipt printer

If you would rather not hand out physical prizes, the built-in receipt printer can print receipts, which can be personalised as well. Visitors can win discounts such as a «2 for 1» entry or a «20 % off» code. The receipts can carry more information about the company or the product, as well as QR codes or details such as websites and phone numbers.

Price

1’950 francs flat for 1 to 5 days: the basic version including an individual layout.

Further options such as a receipt printer, a larger screen including logistics or long-term rental on request. Several locations at the same time are possible too.

How it works

Here is more detail on how a project with the digital Glücksrad runs. Specific questions about your event, or do you want tips on getting the most out of the tool? Book a 15-minute call with Beda Binder.

1. Before the event

So that we can prepare everything, we need the following at least 2 weeks before the dispatch date.

  • Portrait or landscape. You can set the Glücksrad up in portrait or in landscape. Most people choose the vertical version.
  • Logo and corporate design details. We need your logo, colours, typefaces and image style. From those we build a matching design template.
  • A list of the prizes you are giving away. For each prize we need the daily quantity so we can enter it in the system. The wheel has room for a maximum of 16 different icons, that is 16 kinds of prize.
  • Your own screen or one from us. You can use your own screen, or we supply a 24-inch screen free of charge. The digital Glücksrad connects to any standard screen with an HDMI input. On request we deliver larger screens including a counter, at extra cost.
  • Delivery address. In the basic version the Glücksrad is sent by post well in advance.
  • Optional receipt. The content is up to you. We recommend a link to your company, your campaign or your appearance. The receipt printer costs extra.

As soon as we have made a first design, you get access to your personal event page. Here is an example of an event page. On that page you have an overview of all the prizes and can test the Glücksrad in advance.

2. During the event

Once you have approved your personal event page, we prepare everything. At the event the Glücksrad only has to be unpacked and plugged in. Watch the two videos below to see how simple the digital Glücksrad is to operate.

3. After the event

After the event you can look at your report once more in the Glücksrad app. Then you pack all the hardware back into the box and stick the enclosed pre-paid return label on the transport box. The box can then simply be handed in at the post office.

FAQ

How many prizes can be loaded?

The Glücksrad board has room for a maximum of 16 different icons, so you can define up to 16 different prizes. Depending on the prize category, prizes are played out in different ways.

What prize categories are there?

We work with three categories.

Instant prizes are spread evenly over the duration of the promotion according to how many there are. You set a maximum daily quantity per instant prize, and never more than that quantity is played out in a day. So you stay in control. For example: ballpoint pens, 200 a day.

Main prizes are scheduled for a set time and are guaranteed to be played out. Main prizes are valuable single items that give visitors an extra reason to spin the wheel. For example: win a voucher worth 200 francs today.

Dynamic consolation prize: we have built a clever system for the blanks. It makes sure you do not run out of instant prizes, which matters because you never know in advance how many people will take part. The system works out dynamically how often the blank should come up. All you have to tell it is when play ends. A good consolation prize is something cheap in large quantities (Sugus sweets, small chocolates), a real blank, or a discount on a product or a service.

How many prizes should I plan per day?

Because it is hard to predict how many games will be played at an event, it pays to plan ahead. A few reference points: the maximum is around 3.5 games per minute, at a busy shop opening or a careers fair for instance. For a well-attended trade fair we reckon with around 400 prizes a day.

Useful questions: which instant and main prizes do I want to give away? How many fit my budget? Do I already own something in large quantities that could serve as a consolation prize? Should people sometimes win nothing? What could I give them anyway, a link to our promotion or to our job portal?

More input for the numbers: for in-house promotions, sales figures as reference data; for events with invited guests, the registrations; for trade fairs, visitor numbers from previous years.

When and how do I get the Glücksrad?

We send the Glücksrad in a grey Raku box (60 x 30 x 40 cm) with Swiss Post. Give us the delivery address you want and the device will be with you 2 to 3 days before your event, which leaves enough time to test it. As long as someone can take delivery, we also send it straight to fair and event halls.

It comes back the same way. The return form is enclosed, addressed and pre-paid. The transport box can simply be handed in at a post office.

Does the Glücksrad have to be staffed the whole time?

We strongly recommend staffing it. First of all so the prizes are handed out correctly. More importantly, it is a wonderful tool for getting into conversation with people. Plenty of new business has started at a Glücksrad, so it is worth putting trained, friendly and competent staff on it.

Can the Glücksrad be used as an app or online?

No. At the moment the digital Glücksrad exists only in physical form.

What is the printer function?

The printer version lets you print an individual receipt for each prize and hand it over. Whether it carries a message, an entry ticket or a QR code is up to you. You can assign a different receipt to each prize, or print the same receipt for every game.

What do you mean by sustainable prize strategies?

Sustainability here is not only about optimising, predicting and reducing physical giveaways. The digital Glücksrad can also be used to drive future sales (discount campaigns and vouchers) and to win customers over with a positive brand memory for later interactions.

Can I control the Glücksrad myself and adjust the prizes?

Yes, both the quantity of prizes and the pause mode can be changed on site at any time while it is in use. The only requirement is a smartphone or laptop on site. The QR code and password for connecting to the internal wifi of the Glücksrad are on the back of the device.

If the mobile router inside the Glücksrad can connect to the 4G network, changes can also be made remotely. We will give you those access details on request.

How is the design created?

We build the layout to your wishes and in your corporate design. The more we know, the better we can represent your brand. Logo, colours, typefaces, mood images and briefings for the planned event are all useful. We produce a first version for you to look at, and changes can still be made at that point.

What kind of screen can I connect?

Any screen or projector with an HDMI input in 16:9 format and at least 1920 x 1080 pixels. On request we supply a 24-inch monitor free of charge. With our screen the Glücksrad can be used vertically or horizontally. If you bring your own screen, check whether it works in portrait or in landscape.

Why would I want a digital Glücksrad?

A promotion you can plan, sustainability, a fine icebreaker and crowd puller (a red buzzer plus a wheel of fortune is magic), and it fits your look and feel and the rest of your appearance.

Is long-term rental possible?

Yes, renting over a longer period is possible. Please send your enquiry directly to digiwheel@mademarketing.ch.

Can the Glücksrad be bought?

No, at the moment the Glücksrad cannot be bought. Long-term rentals are possible on request.

Can I show my own images and videos on the Glücksrad?

Yes. In pause mode the device can play a video. Send it to us as an MP4 at 1920 x 1080 pixels in landscape or 1080 x 1920 pixels in portrait.

How can I generate leads with the Glücksrad?

The simplest way is a digital form tool. Customers fill it in on their own smartphone and show the confirmation page to the promoter. QR codes with a link to the landing page can be advertised at the point of sale. Creating the QR codes and the landing page is not included in the price. Our experience is that the activation stays in participants' minds and sparks interest. That is worth using in the moment at the point of sale.

How far in advance do I have to order the Glücksrad?

We need all the information at the latest 2 weeks before the dispatch date so we can program the Glücksrad. For an express surcharge we can also react at short notice.

What happens to my data and information after the event?

By confirming the offer you agree to our terms and conditions, and with them to the possible publication of pictures of your Glücksrad and your promotion. They may appear on LinkedIn, Instagram and on our website.

Is there a report on the number of games played?

Yes, you can look at the report at any time in the Glücksrad app. The digital Glücksrad has to be plugged in and running for that.

What happens in a power cut?

The device has to be restarted. The game is saved in the background and can be continued after the restart.

How does the process work?

The short version: send us an enquiry. You get your offer by email, with no obligation. Confirm the offer and send us all the graphic and technical details as well as the conditions at the event, at the latest two weeks before the event. You receive your personal design as a link to review and make changes if you need to. Once you have approved it, we send the device with Swiss Post. After your event the device goes back in the pre-paid return packaging. As soon as it is with us again, we send the invoice by email.

Are design and layout included in the price of 1'950 francs?

Yes, the individual design and the icons, worth 600 francs, are included.

What do I need in order to operate the Glücksrad?

If you do not want to make changes during the promotion, all you need is a standard power socket. Otherwise you need a smartphone, tablet or PC to connect to the network of the device by QR code and log in to the backend. The device has its own router built in, so no internet connection is needed.
