# Experience containers

> Shipping containers are robust, multi-purpose, built to last and leave plenty of room for ideas. We convert them in our own workshop, rent them out and bring them to where people are.

## Experience containers for weatherproof activations

Weatherproof shells such as an **experience container** or the **Flexbox module** take brands to where people are: to events and festivals, onto squares and sports grounds, in front of shopping centres or into the middle of a roadshow. They create presence, give an idea a physical frame and turn a message into an experience.

Our shells are highly visible and hold their ground indoors and outdoors. They are weatherproof, lockable, robust and ready to be used again and again.

## Inside the container

It is close to impossible to list everything a container interior can become. Here the sky really is the limit. Any style can be accommodated, and depending on the concept and the goal of the deployment, completely different worlds can take shape. These practical questions may help:

- Should people be able to walk into the container?
- Will there be an activation or a game?
- Are guests being received inside?
- Is storage space needed?
- Windows? Doors?
- Light and technology
- Flooring such as parquet, carpet and so on
- Branding and scenography
- One room or several
- Stacked containers, perhaps with a terrace?

## Outside the container

The large outer surfaces of an experience container allow a great deal. Single colour or sprayed, wrapped in a second skin or left raw, there are few limits. On the roof, load and wind load have to be taken into account. Go upwards and visibility is guaranteed.

## Our container workshop

We have converted containers for well-known clients such as Campari, Birra Moretti and Coca-Cola. The work itself happens in our made workshop in Busslingen. We have structural draughtspeople and craftspeople on the job who think of every relevant element as early as the concept and visualisation phase.

Because the workshop hall is covered, the containers are protected from wind and weather while they are being converted. Busslingen is about 25 minutes from Zürich, so you can drop by any time to see where things stand.

In most cases we are responsible not only for the conversion but also for the transport that follows and for set-up and dismantling, so the logistics and the commissioning on site run smoothly. If any teething problems come up, we fix them right there.

## Transport

There is almost nothing you cannot build out of a container: tiny houses, stage sets and stage elements, fair stands and promotion locations, pop-up bars or shops. A big advantage of containers is that they can be transported fully assembled and ready to go. Unlike other event shells they are robust enough that transport and positioning can barely damage them.

Depending on size, containers travel by lorry or trailer and are positioned with a medium-sized crane or a forklift. After that they are ready to use almost immediately.

Because they are so heavy, shipping containers are never at risk from gusts or storms. The storms that come more and more often, the ones that send tents and event structures flying past guests and festival visitors, leave a container untouched. No ballast weights or special ground anchors are needed either, which makes set-up and dismantling faster and smoother still.

## FAQ

### How much does an experience container cost?

A branded 20-foot rental container with a simple interior fit-out starts at around 15'000 francs, including transport, set-up and take-down. The price depends mainly on size, fit-out, technology, how long it is in use and how far it travels. A nationwide roadshow with several experience containers starts at 80'000 francs. You get a transparent quote, and we are happy to work to a cost ceiling you set.

### Can I rent an experience container instead of buying one?

Yes, we rent out and sell experience containers. The rental fleet includes a 20-foot open-side container and a 20-foot bar and sales container (both 6.05 x 2.45 m, 2.60 m high) as well as a 10-foot open-side container (3 x 2.45 m, 2.60 m high). Between deployments we store containers in our warehouse in Stetten (AG).

### How long does it take to convert a container?

Allow 6 to 8 weeks from concept approval for the conversion, branding and interior fit-out. It can be faster: for the [Zeekr container in Laax](/cases/zeekr-container-fur-outdoor-auftritt) it took around five weeks from the first enquiry to set-up on site. Complex builds take longer; the transport and workshop container for the Black Star Sailing Team spent two months in our workshop in Busslingen.

### What does a container need on site (power, space, permits)?

It needs level ground that can take the load, access for a truck and a crane or forklift, and a power connection, usually 400 V (CEE 16 A) for larger builds with lighting and technology. Thanks to its own weight, no ballast or ground anchors are needed. On public ground you need a permit; on request we handle the coordination with organisers, cities or SBB.

### Where in Switzerland do you set up containers?

Anywhere in Switzerland, with our own vehicles. The [Heineken containers for the Women’s EURO 2025](/cases/heineken-container-an-der-weuro) stood in the fan zones of Bern, Basel, Geneva, Lucerne, Zürich and Thun, and the Zeekr container stands in Laax for at least a year. We build in our workshop in Busslingen (AG), about 25 minutes from Zürich, and store in Stetten (AG).

### What are some examples of experience containers?

For the 40th anniversary of the Leibstadt nuclear power plant we built an [experience world with four container stations](/cases/kkl-erlebniswelt-am-jubilaum), and for Heineken a series of seven identical containers. The [Safety Castle](/cases/safety-castle-fur-arbeitssicherheit) is made of two converted containers (20 and 10 feet) and tours Switzerland as a roadshow on workplace safety. You will find all our container projects further down this page.
